For Everything There is a Season

Panhead friends, I believe it has come time for me to turn The Skillet Sizzle into a vault of history for Skillet's past. In May 2010 I graduated college and have began working, putting my degree to use. As I'm sure many of us have heard from the Spider-Man movie, "With great power comes great responsibility." With bills to pay and more responsibilities on my plate, I have very little time to keep updating The Skillet Sizzle, as most of you have noticed the past few months. There has also come into play some technical issues with Tripod's new site conversions (problem with HTML formatting, etc.). Because I have maxed out my limited space anyway, I won't be able to post updated pictures or articles concerning Skillet's new progress. But this is not the end! I will continue to keep this site available as is, but only as a gateway to Skillet's past. Skillet is an amazing band, and I don't want anyone to forget their roots.

Thank you so much for taking the time to come and browse through my collection. Lastly, to leave you with a tid bit of news, I have heard that Skillet will be releasing a re-mix cd sometime in 2011, so keep your eyes peeled for it! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

A Fellow Panhead,
Amelia

And the winner is . . . .

Best Skillet Fansite Award
Picture background: Nate Carlson

Because of you guys, The Skillet Sizzle has acquired its second consecutive honor from the Panhead Awards hosted on the official Skillet forum! It's hard to believe I've been archiving and updating Skillet information for a grand total of 6 years now! I must confess to you all that I have been slacking a bit on updating this website with the latest news because this is my last semester in college - that's right, I'm graduating this May! But I will continue to try to keep maintaining this website with new and old info. I would put up A LOT more pictures, but unfortunately more bandwidth for this site means more $$, and I just don't have that right now. So for right now, this place will continue to give you access to the vault of Skillet's history.

Saying "thanks" just doesn't seem to be enough to show my gratitude to you guys. Soooooo, without further ado, here is my gift to you for voting and visiting this site. This is an article I found in an old CCM magazine I had laying around from January 2008
                       Definitely worth a click

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world." This is the mission behind the newly launched clothing line called, "Life Love Music". Skillet's own Ben Kasica is one of the owners of LLM, and has even designed some of the shirts. You can visit the store online and help join the movement. "We hope to inspire people to live their lives differently. To not just see the needs of people and turn away but to face real things, like hunger, homelessness, poverty and do what they can to make a difference and bring change."

Skillet signature

About the latest album, "Awake"
One of Christian music’s top-selling rock bands, GRAMMY®-nominated Skillet returns with its latest recording capturing the raw energy and multi-textured sonic landscape for which they have become known. A mixture of dissonant chords, anthemic builds and memorable vocal interpretation combine to form a progressive, yet classic rock-influenced sound that’s all their own. Skillet’s straightforward message and innovative sound has garnered the band seven #1 songs and an avid fan base.

Experience pounding, classically influenced rock with a progressive edge, colored by dissonant chords, and gutsy vocals on the latest release from Skillet, best known for hits including “Savior.” Relevant, innovative and unforgettable, Skillet continues its tradition of a straightforward, in-your-face gospel message of hope.

ANOTHER new shirt available in the Skillet store!

Skillet Biography:
Classic rock riffs, swirling drums, monstrous hooks, and undeniably catchy choruses... hints of old school progressive rock mixed in with modern alternative flourishes... touches of classical influence as swelling strings intersect with sonic adrenaline rushes. It's indeed a fusion unlike any other, marking the latest chapter in the continuous evolution of Skillet, whose moniker couldn't be more fitting for their explosive new Lava/Atlantic Records release, Comatose.
More than just making a disc packed with killer compositions, John Cooper hopes Comatose's deeper meaning will strike a chord on all levels with listeners from any walk of life. "We live in a time where technology and information is so fast, but somehow we've never felt more alone," he sums up, referencing a line by Matthew McConaughey in Contact. "We're all so desperately trying to communicate with each other online with MySpace and instant messenger that no one gets to know one another, and they feel so alone with nobody to talk to about their problems. So I guess in Bono-esque fashion we're talking about how we need to wake up and come out of the sleep we're in and start reaching out to one another, getting it right in our own lives and actually being there for someone else."

"As soon as my feet hit the stage, I know no matter how many people are there I'm going to give it everything I've got. I'm going to do the best show I can do; the wildest show. I'm gonna rock it. I think we captured that feeling on our record [Comatose]."
 - John Cooper
