The first reality of knowing God is that he knows everything!
"Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give an account." (Hebrews 4:13)

I'm sitting with my heart out on the table every minute of every day, whether I like it or not. The question that God wants to know is what do I want to do with it. When we first come to God, we want security. The ironic thing is that we are both safe in God's hands and totally vulnerable. Because we are the light of the world, we are easy to recognize; we are totally vulnerable because everyone knows we are in the kingdom of God. On the other hand, nobody can hurt us because we are in the hands of the living God who holds the keys to life and death - and besides... we reek of gasoline! In other words, he has consumed our hearts with his fire and we are permanently marked as a result.

God has destroyed who you were and given you a new identity. You are now a partaker of the divine nature (2 Peter 1:4). Galatians 2:20 says that you have been crucified with Christ. If so, then you no longer live but Christ lives in you. Therefore offer your body as a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1), and let Him soak you in gasoline.

More good stuff along these lines in Colossians 2!
